Grand Prize of CSRME Science and Technology Award-Supporting Technology and Application of the Prevention and Control of Landslide in Major Projects under Complex Environment

The award was jointly completed by China Academy of Railway Sciences Corporation Limited and other units. As regards the characteristics and catastrophe laws of landslide hazards in major projects under complex environments, the overall process risk assessment method system, monitoring and early warning and high strength -overall process-low disturbance combined prevention and control new technologies and other problems, the award carried out systematic research and achieved the following innovative results:

1."Strong support - low disturbance - self-locking anchor" 3 categories and 9 items new technologies for prevention and control of landslide disasters have been developed, these new technologies have built a full-coverage fortification-overall process regulation and comprehensive prevention and control technology system for landslide to improve the technical level and ability to prevent and control major engineering landslide under complex environments. 

2.Six new technologies for monitoring landslide hazards have been developed, such as ultra-deep hole displacement monitoring - distributed optical fiber monitoring and early warning - large deformation Newton force monitoring, etc., these new technologies have established a standard and system for early warning of landslide disasters based on target projects, and overcome the technical problem of full coverage fortification of landslide in major projects under complex environments - the overall process of monitoring and early warning.

3.The risk assessment index system method for landslide based on risk matrix was proposed, it has constructed a stage-by-stage risk assessment technical system for the overall process of landslide, developed the theory of major engineering landslide and theories and methods for the overall process of prevention and control, and solved the key technical problems of risk prevention and control for the overall process of landslide in stages.

The results of the project have been successfully applied in more than 100 mountain roads and railways, more than 10 major open-pit mines and ancient architectural cultural relics protection projects in 25 provinces and municipalities including Yunnan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Fujian, Qinghai, Liaoning, and Beijing. The social, economic and environmental benefit is remarkable and the application prospect is broad.

The project has obtained 27 invention patents, 5 monographs, and 15 software copyrights, formed and included 9 industry standards/regulations such as the "Guidelines for Safety Risk Assessment of Highway Cut Slopes Engineering Construction", and published 90 papers, including 33 SCI papers, EI30 articles and so on. After evaluation by an expert group with Academician Du Xiuli as the director, Academicians Zheng Yingren, Academician Cai Meifeng, and Academician Zhu Hehua as deputy directors, it was unanimously believed that the research results of the project reached the international leading level.
