Academician Manchao He was invited to make a special report at the ARMS12

The 12th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium (AMRS12) was held in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, from November 22 to 26, 2022, with the theme of Contemporary Issues in Rock Mechanics and Engineering. Academician Manchao He, President of the CSRME and Chairman of the ISRM China National Group, was invited to make a special report entitled Material Innovation to Engineering Revolution at the Symposium.
Academician Manchao He made a video report to the participating experts and introduced the new materials NPR (Negative Poisson's Ratio) with independent intellectual property rights, and the revolutionary progress of energy engineering, transportation engineering, water conservancy engineering, and geological disaster prevention and control engineering which are promoted by the new technology system. In addition, ISRM President Prof. Resat Ulusay (Turkey), Prof. Seokwon Jeon (Korea), elected ISRM President (2023-2027), ISRM Asia Vice-President Prof. Suseno Kramadibrata (Indonesia), Honorary Professor of the University of Arizona Prof. Pinnaduwa H.S.W. Kulatilake (USA) were respectively invited to make  special reports at the Symposium.
AMRS12 is a regional symposium of the ISRM, hosted by the Vietnamese Society for Rock Mechanics (VSRM), and co-organized by PetroVietnam University (PVU), Institute of Geological Sciences (IGS)-Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). There were 6 major topics: rock properties and testing methods; tunnel and underground construction; mining rock mechanics and engineering; geological hazards (landslides and debris flow) and rock slope stability; rock mechanics and engineering in drilling engineering; numerical simulation of rock properties. More than 100 participants from 15 countries around the world participated in this symposium, mainly including Norway, Turkey, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Bangladesh, the United States. ISRM Asian National Groups mainly include China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mongolia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. AMRS12 provides valuable experience for future conferences in the field of rock mechanics and rock engineering, it also provides a platform for cooperation, sharing and exchanging experiences and ideas among experts, scholars, technicians, and managers.
