The two standards are both compiled under the leadership of the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. For the "Procedures for Evaluating Technical Specifications on the Stability of Surrounding Rock in Large Underground Caverns", more than ten organizations were involved in the compilation, including: Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute affiliated to the Changjiang Water Resources Commission, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Shaoxing University, Hubei University of Technology, Tongji University, CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., East China Electric Power Design Institute etc., with the goal to standardize the evaluation of technology for the stability of surrounding rock in underground caverns, and to provide a technical basis for discriminating and reasonably evaluating the stability of surrounding rock in underground caverns. For the "Technical Specifications on Non-contact Measurement of Rock Surface Roughness", its goal is to provide a basis for the standardization, consistency and completeness of the measurement of rock surface topography and roughness.
