On September 21, the 2022 "China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan" new high-level journal selection results were announced. A total of 177 new journals were selected to enter the defense stage, and 50 journals were finally selected as new high-level journals, including two CSRME journals, i.e., Rock Mechanics Bulletin and Geohazard Mechanics.

Rock Mechanics Bulletin is an open-access international journal focusing on rock mechanics and engineering, jointly sponsored by the CSRME and China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). Academician He Manchao, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the president of the CSRME, and Academician Derek Elsworth, National Academy of Engineering (USA), professor from Pennsylvania State University, serve as chief editors. It was officially published in July 2022. The missions of the journal include: promote the multi-discipline integration, multi-theoretical method innovation, and multi-engineering practical application in rock mechanics; publish original and cutting-edge research articles in rock mechanics and rock engineering; serve major national strategies; build a barrier-free international platform for scholars to exchange the latest theories, knowledge and research results online; and help advance the development of the rock mechanics in the world.

Geohazard Mechanics is jointly sponsored by Liaoning University and the CSRME. Professor Pan Yishan from Liaoning University, the vice chairman of the ISRM China National Group serves as chief editor. It was officially published in August 2022. The journal is a quarterly journal, with a volume of 40 articles per year. It is specially used to publish the objective laws concerning the occurrence and evolution of major engineering geology and natural hazards, such as impact ground pressure, rock burst, gas outburst, water inrush, roof fall, collapse, debris flow, landslide, mine earthquake, and earthquake. The emphasis of the journal is on the occurrence mechanism of geotechnical disasters, risk assessment, monitoring and early warning, disaster reduction and prevention from the perspective of mechanics.

In recent years, the CSRME has actively promoted the development of industry journals and made contributions to the steady improvement of the quality of journals. In addition to the above two journals, the CSRME has also sponsored and co-organized four other academic journals in Chinese and English, i.e., Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering, Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (JRMGE), and Underground Space (UNDSP). Among them, JRMGE was included in the SCIE database in January 2019, and was also selected as the "Leading Journal of China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan" in the same year. It was rated as "China's Most Influential International Academic Journal" for 5 consecutive years (2016-2020). The Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering has been awarded the "China's Most Influential International Academic Journal" for 6 consecutive years, and has won many honorary titles, such as national excellent journals and 100 outstanding Chinese academic journals. In 2019, it was selected as the Echelon Journal of "China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan"; UNDSP was included in the SCIE database in September 2020.
