VENUE AND DATE OF THE SYMPOSIUM

Venue: The world cultural heritage site-Mogao Grottoes, Dunhuang, China

October 11-12 2008. Technical visit.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SYMPOSIUM

There are a lot of grottoes and earthen architecture sites located in northwest China. Over past 10 years, Chinese scholars have not only made a great deal of scientific researches and engineering practices on the conservation of ancient sites, but also cooperated with international organizations. The aim of the symposium is to demonstrate the latest advances and achievements in the field of international conservation of ancient sites, and also to provide a forum for the participants of this Symposium. The topics of this symposium are extensive, covering the new progress of conservation both domestic and overseas ancient sites. You will have opportunities to discuss the technologies and concepts about ancient sites conservation with experts coming from all over the world.

THEMES

- Environment and conservation of ancient sites.

- Geological engineering and conservation of ancient sites.

- Study of main geological disasters and the mechanism of ancient sites.

- Study of materials and technologies for conservation of ancient sites.

- Study on deformation monitoring and stability analysis of ancient sites.

- Typical case on consolidation engineering of ancient sites.

LANGUAGES

The official language of the symposium will be in Chinese and English.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

The author will submit an English abstract of 300-500 words about any one of the above-mentioned themes (you should also submit abstract in Chinese if you are a Chinese). Please write down the title of the paper, the author’s name, address, E-mail, telephone number, fax number and etc. on the first page of the abstract. The author will be informed to provide the full paper once his/her abstract is approved by the Scientific Committee.

Authors wishing to present a paper in the Symposium must submit in advance, an abstract of the proposed content, in Microsoft Word or Acrobat format, The abstracts submitted in English must include the following details: Title of the proposed paper; Name of the author(s), affiliation and e-mail address; Text of the abstract (no more than 500 words)

The author will be informed to provide the full paper once his/her abstract is approved by the Scientific Committee.

Full paper submission: February 29, 2008
