5th International Workshop on Applications of Computational Mechanics in Geotechnical Engineering
University of Minho (UM), Guimarães, Portugal April 1 - 4, 2007
The 5th International Workshop on Applications of Computational Mechanics in Geotechnical Engineering is a forum for discussing the state-of-the art and future trends in the area of computational mechanics applied to geotechnical problems. The previous editions of the Workshop took place in Rio de Janeiro (1991 and 1994), Porto (1998) and Ouro Preto (2003). It has been our purpose to join renowned researchers in an informal meeting where people can exchange views and point out perspectives to the relevant subjects.
The Workshop will provide an excellent opportunity to hold high level discussions and to define novel approaches for the solution of relevant engineering problems. The meeting is open to public in general. We hope to attract researchers, academics, students, software developers, and practical engineers of all areas of Geotechnics.
The meeting will be held in Guimarães, Portugal. Guimarães is an historic city, the first capital of Portugal, designated as UNESCO World Heritage. A wide range of choices for technical and leisure tours will be available.
Promotion of University of Minho with the cooperation of University of Porto, LNEC, Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Federal University of Viçosa. Support of SPG – Portuguese Geotechnical Society and ABMS – Brazilian Association for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
